How to Enable Fingerprint and Face ID Login on Binance
Biometric login is one of the best quality-of-life security features on the Binance app. Instead of typing your password every time you open the app, you can authenticate instantly with your fingerprint or face. This guide explains how to set up and manage biometric login on both Android and iOS devices.
What Is Biometric Login on Binance?
Biometric login allows you to unlock the Binance app using your device's biometric hardware — either a fingerprint scanner or a Face ID / face recognition camera. This replaces the need to type your password each time you open the app.
Important distinctions to understand:
- Biometric login replaces your app launch password, not your account password entirely
- For sensitive operations like withdrawals, transfers, or security setting changes, Binance still requires your full password and 2FA
- Biometric data is processed entirely on your device — Binance never stores your fingerprint or face data on its servers
Prerequisites
Before enabling biometric login on Binance, you need:
- A registered fingerprint or Face ID on your device — Biometric login will not work unless your phone already has biometric data enrolled in the device settings
- The latest version of the Binance app — Older versions may not support all biometric features
- A Binance account with 2FA enabled — Biometric login cannot replace your 2FA; it is an additional convenience layer on top of it
Setting Up Fingerprints on Android
- Go to Settings > Biometrics and security (Samsung) or Settings > Security > Fingerprint (stock Android)
- Tap Add fingerprint and follow the on-screen instructions
- Scan your preferred finger multiple times from different angles for best recognition accuracy
Setting Up Face ID on iPhone
- Go to Settings > Face ID and Passcode
- Tap Set Up Face ID and follow the two-scan process
- Optionally, add an alternate appearance for improved recognition in different lighting conditions
Enabling Biometric Login in the Binance App
The process is the same on both Android and iOS:
Step 1: Open Binance Security Settings
- Open the Binance app and log in
- Tap the Profile icon in the top left corner
- Select Security from the menu
Step 2: Find Biometric Login
- In the Security section, scroll down to find Biometric Login or Fingerprint / Face ID Login
- Tap on it to open the biometric settings page
Step 3: Enable Biometrics
- Tap the toggle to enable biometric login
- You will be prompted to verify your identity — enter your Binance account password to confirm the change
- Your device will then prompt you to scan your fingerprint or use Face ID
- Complete the biometric scan to link it to your Binance login
Biometric login is now active. The next time you open the Binance app, instead of seeing the password field, you will see a prompt to use your fingerprint or face.
Using Face ID Specifically (iPhone)
On iPhone models with Face ID (iPhone X and later):
- After enabling biometric login in Binance settings, Face ID activates automatically on the next app launch
- Simply hold your phone in front of your face at a natural viewing distance
- The app unlocks within 1-2 seconds
- If Face ID fails (for example, if you are wearing a mask), tap Use Password to enter manually
To confirm Face ID is working, check iPhone Settings > Face ID and Passcode > Other Apps — Binance should appear in the list with its toggle enabled.
Using Fingerprint on Android
On Android devices with a fingerprint sensor:
- After enabling biometric login in Binance, a fingerprint icon will appear on the login screen
- Place your registered finger on the scanner
- The app unlocks immediately
- If fingerprint recognition fails three times, Binance falls back to the password entry screen
For best results, register multiple fingers in your device settings so you have a fallback if one hand is occupied.
Biometric Login for Additional Security Actions
Beyond app unlock, Binance can also use biometrics to authorize certain in-app actions:
- Confirming trades — In some app versions, you can enable biometric confirmation for order placement
- Viewing account balances — Option to require biometric authentication before showing your portfolio value
- Authorizing transfers — Some users enable an extra biometric check before initiating any fund movement
To configure these additional options, look for Biometric Authentication under Security > Advanced Security Settings.
Temporarily Disabling Biometric Login
If you want to switch to password-only login temporarily:
- Go to Profile > Security > Biometric Login
- Toggle the switch off
- Enter your account password to confirm
You can re-enable biometrics at any time using the same steps.
What Happens If Your Device Changes
If you add a new fingerprint to your device or update your Face ID scan, the biometric link on Binance is automatically invalidated for security reasons. You will be prompted to log in with your password and re-enable biometric login the next time you open the app.
If you replace your phone:
- Log in to Binance on the new device with your email/password and 2FA
- Follow the setup steps above to enroll your biometrics on the new device
Troubleshooting Biometric Login Issues
Biometric option is greyed out: Your device does not have biometrics configured yet. Set up fingerprint or Face ID in your device settings first, then return to Binance.
Face ID keeps failing: Improve Face ID accuracy by adding an alternate appearance in iPhone settings. Also make sure the TrueDepth camera area is clean and not obstructed.
Fingerprint not recognized: Register your fingerprint from multiple angles. Clean the sensor and your finger — oils or moisture can interfere with recognition.
Biometric login disappears after update: A major app update can reset biometric settings. Log in with your password and re-enable the feature in Security settings.
App always asks for password despite biometrics being on: Check if you have the Lock App setting enabled in your phone's app settings, which may override Binance's biometric handling.
Security Best Practices When Using Biometrics
- Only enroll your own biometrics on your device — do not add family members' fingerprints to a phone used for Binance
- Keep your device's screen lock enabled with a strong PIN or password as a backup to biometrics
- Regularly review authorized devices in Binance Security settings to ensure no unknown device has your account linked
- Even with biometrics enabled, always maintain a strong, unique account password as your primary security layer
