How to Use Binance Convert - Instant Crypto Swap Feature

· ~ 14 min read · ChainKer Editorial Team

Binance Convert is a simplified swap feature that lets you exchange one cryptocurrency for another instantly, without needing to navigate the full trading interface. It displays a locked price for a few seconds, giving you certainty before you confirm. This guide explains how it works and when to use it.

What Is Binance Convert?

Binance Convert is a zero-complexity swap tool built into Binance. Instead of placing orders in the traditional order book, you simply:

  1. Select what you want to give
  2. Select what you want to receive
  3. Enter an amount
  4. Accept the quoted price
  5. Confirm the swap

The entire process takes under 30 seconds. The "locked price" feature guarantees the rate stays fixed for a short window (typically a few seconds) while you decide whether to accept.

Convert is ideal for traders who want quick exchanges without worrying about slippage, order types, or order book dynamics.

How to Access Binance Convert

There are several ways to reach the Convert feature:

  • From the navigation menu: Click Trade > Convert
  • From your wallet: In Wallet > Fiat and Spot, click the Convert button next to any coin
  • From the mobile app: Tap Trade then Convert

Step-by-Step: How to Use Binance Convert

Step 1: Open the Convert Interface

Navigate to Trade > Convert. The interface is straightforward — two fields, one for what you are giving and one for what you are getting.

Step 2: Select Your Source Currency ("From")

Click on the From field. A dropdown appears showing all the coins you currently hold in your Spot wallet. Select the one you want to swap.

Common choices:

  • USDT (buying crypto)
  • BTC, ETH, or BNB (exchanging into another crypto)
  • Any altcoin (converting to USDT or another coin)

Step 3: Select Your Destination Currency ("To")

Click the To field and search for the coin you want to receive. You can search by name (e.g., "Ethereum") or ticker symbol (e.g., "ETH").

Not all pairs are available for Convert. If a pair is not supported, Binance will indicate it and you will need to use the spot market instead.

Step 4: Enter the Amount

Type either:

  • How much of the source coin you want to swap (e.g., 100 USDT)
  • How much of the destination coin you want to receive (e.g., 0.03 ETH)

Binance automatically calculates the other side based on the current market rate. You can toggle between entering the "From" amount or the "To" amount.

Use the Max button to swap your entire balance of the source coin.

Step 5: Review the Quote

Click Preview Conversion. Binance will display a locked price with a countdown timer (typically 10 seconds). The information shown includes:

  • The exact amount of the source coin you will spend
  • The exact amount of the destination coin you will receive
  • The implied exchange rate
  • The timer showing how long this price is locked

Review the rate carefully. If it looks acceptable, proceed. If the timer expires before you confirm, Binance will ask you to refresh for a new quote.

Step 6: Confirm the Conversion

Click Convert to execute the swap. The exchange is instantaneous. Your Spot wallet is updated immediately — the source coin decreases and the destination coin increases.

A confirmation screen shows the details of the completed conversion.

Convert Fees: Understanding the Spread

Binance does not charge an explicit trading fee for Convert. Instead, the platform earns through the spread — a small difference between the market buy and sell price.

For example:

  • True market mid-price for ETH: $3,200
  • Binance Convert buy quote: $3,206 (0.19% above mid)
  • Binance Convert sell quote: $3,194 (0.19% below mid)

The spread is typically around 0.1%–0.5% depending on the pair. For major pairs (BTC, ETH, BNB), spreads are usually tighter.

If you are converting large amounts (over $1,000), using the spot market with a limit order will generally be more economical. Convert is best for convenience and small to medium amounts.

Convert vs Spot Trading: Which to Use?

Scenario Best Option
Quick small swap Convert
Best price, any size Spot market (limit order)
Beginner, don't know order types Convert
Large trade, want price control Spot market
Fractional amounts, complex pairs Convert
Minimizing fees on high volume Spot market

What Coins Can You Convert?

Binance Convert supports a wide range of coins — hundreds of pairs. However, not every possible combination is supported. Pairs with very low liquidity may not be available.

If a pair is not available in Convert, you will see a message indicating it. In that case, use the spot market and trade through an intermediate coin if needed (e.g., AltCoin → USDT → Target Coin in two separate trades).

Convert via the Binance Mobile App

The Convert feature on the mobile app works identically to the web version. The interface is even more streamlined on mobile:

  1. Open the Binance app
  2. Tap Trade at the bottom navigation
  3. Select Convert
  4. Choose From and To coins
  5. Enter amount
  6. Tap Preview Conversion
  7. Tap Convert to confirm

The mobile app is particularly useful for quick swaps on the go.

Batch Convert: Convert Multiple Small Balances at Once

Binance also offers a Dust Conversion feature (accessible from Wallet > Fiat and Spot > Convert Small Balances). This lets you select multiple tiny coin balances (dust) and convert them all to BNB at once.

This is useful for cleaning up your wallet after trading, as small residual balances accumulate over time. Instead of having dozens of coins worth a few cents each, you consolidate them into BNB.

How to Convert Dust to BNB:

  1. Go to Wallet > Fiat and Spot
  2. Click Convert Small Balances (or Convert Dust)
  3. Check the boxes next to the coins you want to convert
  4. Click Convert to BNB
  5. Confirm the conversion

The dust is exchanged for BNB at the current market rate with no explicit fee.

Tracking Your Convert History

All conversions are recorded in your transaction history:

  1. Go to Orders > Convert History
  2. View all past conversions with dates, amounts, and rates
  3. Export if needed for tax records

Tips for Using Binance Convert Effectively

  • Use Convert for quick swaps when you do not want to deal with the order book
  • For large swaps, compare the Convert rate to the spot market rate before converting
  • If the timer expires on a quote, refresh and check if the new rate is still acceptable during volatile markets
  • Convert is a great tool for rebalancing your portfolio quickly without managing multiple limit orders
