How to Download the Binance Desktop Client

· ~ 18 min read · ChainKer Editorial Team

Many traders find that phone screens are too small for reading charts and prefer to use Binance on their computer. Binance offers not only a mobile app but also a desktop client for both Windows and Mac. You can download the desktop version from the official Binance website. If you haven't installed the mobile app yet, you can also grab the official Binance APK — using both desktop and mobile together is the most convenient setup. iPhone users can check our iOS installation guide for mobile setup. Today, we'll focus on how to download and use the desktop client.

Why Use the Desktop Client Instead of the Web Version

Before we get into the download process, here's why the desktop client is worth it.

Better Trading Experience

The desktop client lets you view candlestick charts in full screen, with technical indicators clearly visible at a glance. For traders who rely on technical analysis, the big-screen experience is incomparable to phones or web browsers.

Faster Response Times

The client communicates directly with Binance's servers, eliminating the browser as a middleman. Order execution and price updates are noticeably faster. During volatile markets, those few milliseconds can make the difference between profit and loss.

Richer Functionality

The desktop client supports multiple windows to view different trading pairs simultaneously, allowing you to compare multiple charts side by side. While the web version can open multiple tabs, it's clearly less smooth than the dedicated client.

Independent of Browser Issues

With the web version, browser crashes, accidentally closing tabs, or clearing cache can all disrupt your workflow. The desktop client runs independently, free from these issues.

Windows Download and Installation

Step 1: Go to the Official Download Page

Open the official Binance website in your computer browser, and find the "Download" link at the top or bottom of the page.

Step 2: Select the Windows Version

On the download page, you'll see options for Windows, Mac, Linux, etc. Select "Windows" and click download.

The file is typically an .exe installer, around 50-100MB (it will be larger after installation since additional data needs to be downloaded).

Step 3: Run the Installer

Double-click the downloaded installer.

Note: Windows may display a SmartScreen warning saying "Windows protected your PC." This is because the installer wasn't downloaded from the Microsoft Store — completely normal. Click "More info," then select "Run anyway."

If you have antivirus software (like 360 or Tencent PC Manager), it may also block the installation. Add the installer to the whitelist or temporarily disable real-time protection.

Step 4: Choose the Installation Path

The installer will ask you to choose an installation location. The default is usually the C drive's Program Files directory. If you're low on C drive space, you can change it to D drive or another location.

Step 5: Complete Installation and Launch

Installation is quick — just a minute or two. After completion, a Binance shortcut icon will appear on your desktop. Double-click to open.

The first launch may take a moment as the client initializes some data. Subsequent launches will be much faster.

Mac Download and Installation

Step 1: Download from the Official Website

Go to the official Binance website download page and select the "macOS" version.

Note that the Mac version has two options:

  • Intel chip version: For most Mac computers before 2020
  • Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3) version: For Macs with M-series chips

Not sure which chip your computer has? Click the Apple icon in the top-left corner → "About This Mac" and check the processor information.

Step 2: Install the DMG File

The download is a .dmg file. Double-click to open it, then drag the Binance icon to the "Applications" folder to complete installation.

Step 3: Handle Security Restrictions

On first launch, Mac may display a warning saying "Binance can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer." To fix this:

  1. Open "System Preferences" → "Security & Privacy"
  2. Under the "General" tab, you'll see "Binance was blocked from opening"
  3. Click "Open Anyway"
  4. Binance will open without being blocked from then on

Step 4: Log In and Use

Once open, sign in with your Binance account. If you don't have one yet, you can register directly in the client.

Linux Download

Binance also offers a Linux version supporting mainstream distributions like Ubuntu.

Download from the official website — typically available in .deb or .AppImage format.

Install the .deb format with sudo dpkg -i binance.deb. The .AppImage format doesn't require installation — just grant execute permissions and run it directly.

Desktop Client Interface and Basic Usage

Logging In

After opening the client, enter your email and password, then complete two-factor authentication via your phone app or Google Authenticator.

Switching Language

The default interface may be in English. You can switch to your preferred language in the top-left corner or in settings.

Main Feature Areas

  • Home: Market overview, trending coins, price movements
  • Trade: Where you place buy/sell orders — supports spot, futures, and other trading modes
  • Wallet: View your asset balances
  • Charts: Professional candlestick charts with multiple technical indicators

Multi-Window Operation

This is a standout feature of the desktop client. You can open multiple trading pair chart windows simultaneously, arranging them side by side on a large screen for easy comparison. It's incredibly useful for day traders or those monitoring multiple coins at once.

Feature Comparison: Desktop vs. Mobile

Core features are the same, but there are some differences:

Feature Desktop Client Mobile App
Charts Larger and clearer Small screen, less convenient
Order Speed Faster Slightly slower
Multi-Window Supported Not supported
Face Recognition Not supported Supported
Push Notifications Limited More timely
Use Anywhere Requires computer Available anytime

We recommend installing both — use the desktop version at home or the office, and the mobile app when you're out.

Security Reminders

Desktop usage comes with some unique security risks:

  • Download from official channels only: Just like mobile, only download from the Binance official website — never from other sites offering "Binance client" downloads
  • Keep your computer secure: Make sure your computer is free from viruses or trojans; install reputable antivirus software and keep it updated
  • Don't log in on public computers: Computers at internet cafes or libraries may have keyloggers installed
  • Lock your screen when stepping away: Press Win+L when leaving your computer to prevent others from accessing your account
  • Don't save passwords: Don't check "Remember password," especially on shared computers
  • Check login history regularly: Review the security settings in your account for any suspicious login activity

FAQ

Do I need a VPN to use the desktop client?

This depends on your network environment. Some networks allow direct access, while others may require network adjustments. If the client loads but data doesn't appear, you may need to optimize your network settings.

The client is really laggy — what's causing it?

Possible causes include: low computer specs (at least 4GB RAM recommended), unstable network, or too many open windows. Try closing unnecessary chart windows or reducing the price refresh frequency in settings.

Can I be logged in on both phone and computer simultaneously?

Yes. Binance supports multi-device login — you can be online on both your phone and computer at the same time. However, logging in on a new device typically requires email or phone verification.

Is the data synced between the desktop client and web version?

Completely synced. Whether you operate on the mobile app, desktop client, or web version, the data is from the same account and syncs in real time.

Can I install the Binance client on Windows 7?

The latest Binance client may no longer support Windows 7. We recommend at least Windows 10. If your computer is still on Windows 7, you can use the web version for now while considering a system upgrade.
