Binance Internal Transfer - Move Funds Between Spot, Futures, Savings

· ~ 13 min read · ChainKer Editorial Team

Binance divides your funds across multiple internal wallets depending on what you are doing with them. Your trading balance, futures balance, savings balance, and staking balance are all held separately. Moving funds between these wallets is free, instant, and essential for using different Binance products. This guide explains how to do it.

Understanding Binance's Wallet Structure

Binance has several distinct wallet types:

  • Spot Wallet (Fiat and Spot): The main wallet where deposits arrive and where you trade on the spot market
  • Futures Wallet: Separate balance used exclusively for futures trading (USDM or COINM)
  • Margin Wallet: Holds collateral for margin trading
  • Earn Wallet: Where your savings, staking, and yield-generating assets are held
  • Funding Wallet: Used for Binance Pay and peer-to-peer transactions

These are not separate accounts — they are all part of your single Binance account. But funds do not automatically flow between them. You must transfer manually.

How to Transfer from Spot to Futures Wallet

This is the most common transfer for active traders who want to use futures contracts.

Steps:

  1. Log in to Binance
  2. Go to Wallet > Fiat and Spot
  3. Click Transfer (or navigate to the Futures trading page and click Transfer there)
  4. In the transfer dialog, set:
    • From: Spot Wallet
    • To: USD-M Futures (or COIN-M Futures, depending on your contract type)
    • Coin: Select the coin you want to transfer (usually USDT)
    • Amount: Enter the amount or click Max
  5. Click Confirm

The transfer is instant and free. Your Futures wallet balance updates immediately.

To transfer back from Futures to Spot, follow the same steps but reverse the From/To direction.

How to Transfer from Spot to Margin Wallet

If you use margin trading, you need to transfer collateral to your margin wallet first.

Steps:

  1. Go to Trade > Margin Trading
  2. On the margin trading interface, click Transfer
  3. Select From: Spot Wallet, To: Cross Margin (or Isolated Margin for specific pairs)
  4. Choose your coin and enter the amount
  5. Confirm the transfer

For isolated margin, you will first select the specific trading pair before the transfer option becomes available.

How to Transfer from Spot to Earn (Savings and Staking)

When you subscribe to Binance Earn products like Flexible Savings, Locked Savings, or Staking, funds are moved from your Spot wallet to the Earn wallet. In most cases, this transfer happens automatically when you subscribe to a product.

However, if you want to manually manage balances:

  1. Go to Finance > Binance Earn
  2. Find the product you want to subscribe to (e.g., Flexible Savings for USDT)
  3. Click Subscribe
  4. Enter the amount — funds will be pulled from your Spot wallet automatically
  5. Confirm the subscription

To redeem (transfer back to Spot):

  1. Go to Finance > Binance Earn
  2. Find your active subscriptions
  3. Click Redeem next to the product
  4. Choose the amount to redeem
  5. Funds return to your Spot wallet (instantly for flexible products, or at the end of the term for locked products)

How to Transfer Between Sub-Accounts

If you have created sub-accounts under your main Binance account, you can transfer funds between them:

  1. Go to Account > Sub-Account Management
  2. Select the sub-account you want to transfer from or to
  3. Use the Transfer option to move funds

Sub-account transfers are free and typically instant. They are commonly used by traders who want to separate different strategies or by teams managing multiple portfolios.

How to Send Crypto to Another Binance User (Internal Transfer)

Sending crypto to another Binance user is completely free and instant. No blockchain transaction is required.

Using Binance Pay:

  1. Go to Finance > Binance Pay
  2. Click Send
  3. Enter the recipient's email address, phone number, Pay ID, or scan their QR code
  4. Select the coin and amount
  5. Confirm with your PIN or biometrics

Using Spot Wallet Transfer:

  1. Go to Wallet > Fiat and Spot
  2. Click Withdraw
  3. In the address field, enter the recipient's Binance-registered email or phone
  4. Binance will recognize it as an internal transfer automatically
  5. Select the coin, enter the amount, and confirm

Internal transfers bypass all blockchain fees and limits. They are the best option when you know the recipient is on Binance.

How to Use the Universal Transfer Feature

Binance offers a Universal Transfer feature for moving funds between all wallet types in one place.

  1. Go to Wallet and click the Transfer button (or find it under the wallet overview)
  2. Select your source wallet (From)
  3. Select your destination wallet (To)
  4. Choose the coin
  5. Enter the amount and confirm

The universal transfer supports transfers between: Spot, Futures (USDM and COINM), Margin (Cross and Isolated), Earn, Funding, and Portfolio Margin accounts.

Common Transfer Issues and Solutions

"Insufficient Balance" Error

Make sure the funds you want to transfer are in the correct source wallet. If you just made a trade, funds land in Spot by default. If you are trying to transfer Futures PnL, you may need to close positions first.

Transfer Not Available for Certain Coins

Some coins are restricted from certain wallet types. For example, not all coins can be used as margin collateral. Check the list of supported margin assets if you encounter this.

Earn Redemption Delays

Locked savings products have a fixed term. Early redemption may not be available or may forfeit interest. Flexible products redeem instantly. Always check the product terms before subscribing.

Tips for Managing Multiple Wallets

  • Keep only the funds you need in each wallet to reduce exposure
  • Transfer excess futures balance back to Spot when not actively trading
  • Use Earn for idle USDT to earn yield between trading sessions
  • Review your wallet breakdown regularly under Wallet > Overview to see your total portfolio across all wallets
